What made you want to join CFG and how's it different to other firms you've worked at?

CFG appealed to me because I wanted to continue working on serious injury/catastrophic cases with the potential to develop my own career. It was not an easy decision – I had only ever worked at my previous firm (a big, national firm with a good reputation) as a paralegal, trainee and then a qualified solicitor so it was a big change for me. But, it was well worth it and almost instantly, I was given the opportunity to lead on cases, as well as assisting the partners/senior solicitors on various cases.

One of the first things that struck me about being different at CFG was the transparency of the business, from the CEO, group leadership team and senior lawyers. Within weeks I knew about the plans for the business, what we needed to do to get there and how I could contribute to that. This meant a lot to me as I had never experienced that level of transparency before, and I felt valued as a result. The values of the business were also a huge attraction – the firm’s aim of helping those affected by injury – together, fully aligned with what I wanted to achieve.

What opportunities have you been given to develop your career at CFG?

I joined CFG in 2017 as an assistant solicitor. I then worked hard and achieved promotion to senior associate in April 2018. In that role, I learned more than I can describe. I started to lead on complex catastrophic injury claims and led them to successful conclusions for many clients. I developed leadership skills by supervising a team of solicitors which was enhanced by attendance at a Dale Carnegie leadership course (arranged by CFG). I also developed my commercial awareness and was invited to be involved in projects that directly influenced the business.

I then worked towards and achieved promotion to partner in April 2023 which felt like a big milestone for me although there is still much left for me to do! I look forward to developing our teams and continuing to work hard for our clients, every day.
